What MSLS Will Do, Per the Filing

Per the registration filings, MSLS is part of a new Defiance family called LightningSpread — eleven single-stock income funds registered at once, covering names from Apple and Nvidia to Tesla and Palantir. MSLS's underlying is MicroStrategy (now "Strategy," ticker MSTR) — the bitcoin-treasury company that is one of the most volatile large stocks in the market, which is precisely what makes its option premiums rich.

The family's structure, per the prospectus: the fund holds synthetic long exposure to the stock (option combinations and swaps engineered to move like ~100% ownership) while keeping 50–100% of assets in cash and Treasuries as collateral. Income comes from selling put spreads weekly — collecting premiums for agreeing to absorb a defined slice of downside between two strike prices.

That design differs meaningfully from YieldMax's MSTY, which sells calls and therefore caps upside. Selling put spreads leaves upside open — the trade-off is losses when MSTR falls through the sold spread's range. Same volatile stock, opposite side of the options market.

What Nobody Can Know Yet

A registration filing is a plan, not a product. Until MSLS trades, there is no payment history, no real yield, and no evidence of how its strategy behaves in live markets — any number you hear before launch is a target or a guess. Filings also get delayed, renamed, or quietly abandoned; this page's status updates daily either way. When MSLS does launch, we chart every payment from its very first one, free.

Frequently Asked Questions

When does MSLS launch?

No date has been announced. The registration was first seen in SEC records dated Nov 26, 2025; issuers typically launch within months of filing, but filings can also stall. The status box above updates daily, and the launch tracker shows everything else on the runway.

What will MSLS pay?

Unknowable until it trades — there is no payment history and the filing promises no rate. The strategy is option-income, so distributions would depend on real option premiums once live.

Is MSLS the same as MSTY?

No — near-opposite option strategies on the same stock, per their filings. MSTY generates income mainly by selling calls, which caps how much upside you keep. MSLS's filing describes selling weekly put spreads while holding synthetic long exposure, which preserves upside but takes defined losses when MSTR drops through the spread. Neither is 'safer' — they lose in different weather.

This page summarizes a public SEC registration filing (as amended) in our own words; filings change, and registered funds sometimes never launch.
