- Pays: weekly now. APLY paid monthly from June 2023 and switched on October 16, 2025, so the step down in the chart that autumn is a change of schedule, not a cut.
- The record: 84 distributions since June 7, 2023 — 29 monthly, ranging $0.1727 to $0.6512, then 55 weekly between $0.0415 and $0.1774.
- Return of capital: the footnote under YieldMax's own table puts the October 28, 2026 distribution at 0.00% return of capital and 100.00% income. Most funds in this family are nowhere near that.
- The two published yields: a 25.03% distribution rate against a 2.36% 30-day SEC yield — a gap of about 11 times, and the narrowest of any fund on this list bar JPO and YQQQ.
- Size and fee: $112.12M of net assets at a $12.02 NAV, on a 1.04% gross expense ratio.
The distribution rate and the SEC yield measure different things, and the gap between them is not automatically a warning. The SEC yield deliberately excludes option income, which is the entire strategy here — so a covered-call fund will always show a small one. What makes the comparison worth printing is the return-of-capital line beside it: APLY's latest check is funded by what the fund earned, and a check that is 90%-plus return of capital is not. The figures quoted in the text on this page are those the issuer published for the 29 October 2026 ex-date; the chart and the table above are drawn live from the payment record and show every distribution since, including any declared after that date.
Each point is one declared APLY distribution, starting June 7, 2023. Read the autumn 2025 step as the monthly-to-weekly change it was: the 29 payments to its left are monthly and the 55 to its right are weekly, so four of the small ones are the fair comparison to one of the large ones.

"Next expected" is estimated from APLY's recent payment rhythm — the fund announces exact dates shortly before each payout, and the data feed can lag a few days. You must own shares before the ex-dividend date to receive that payout; the cash typically arrives days later. See every fund's upcoming date on the live dividend calendar.
A real total-return estimate, assuming every payout was reinvested — including what happened to the share price. Before taxes and fees. Past performance does not predict the future.
An option income fund sells volatility. Apple has less of it than almost anything else YieldMax writes against, so APLY's distribution rate of 25.03% is one of the lowest in the family while RBLY on Roblox shows 70.3% and GMEY on GameStop 65.13%. That is the trade working as designed, not the fund underperforming.
The compensation shows up in what funds the check. APLY's most recent distribution is 100% income by the issuer's own estimate, where SNOY's is 97.9% return of capital. Same issuer, same mechanism, opposite funding. The compare tool puts any two of these on one chart with the share price, which is where the difference between a paid distribution and an earned one becomes visible.

When Is APLY's Next Ex-Dividend Date?
APLY pays weekly — declared each Wednesday, ex-dividend the Thursday — after two and a half years of monthly payments through October 2025. The exact date of each payout is announced by the fund only shortly beforehand, so no site can promise the next date — but the live schedule box above shows the most recent ex-dividend date and the expected window for the next one, computed from APLY's actual payment rhythm. Remember: you must own shares before the ex-dividend date to receive that payout.
Eighty-Four Distributions, in Two Different Shapes
APLY first paid on June 7, 2023 and has declared 84 times since. The first 29 were monthly and spanned $0.1727 to $0.6512. From October 16, 2025 the fund has paid weekly, 55 times so far, between $0.0415 and $0.1774. The latest, declared for the October 29, 2026 ex-date, is $0.0579. Any read of the trend that crosses autumn 2025 has to account for the schedule, which is why this page states the two eras separately rather than quoting one range.
Where the Check Comes From
YieldMax estimates the composition of each distribution in a footnote beneath its own table. For October 28, 2026 APLY's reads 0.00% return of capital and 100.00% income. Return of capital is not a scandal — it is your own money coming back, and it reduces NAV by the amount returned — but a fund paying entirely out of income is doing something different from a fund paying mostly out of capital, and across this cohort on the same day the range ran from APLY's zero to SNOY's 97.9%.
What Would Change the Read
Two things worth watching, both of which land on this page as they happen. Whether the return-of-capital estimate stays at zero, because it is published per distribution and a quiet month of option premium is what pushes it up. And what the $112.12M in net assets does, since APLY is by some distance the largest of these twenty funds and scale is what keeps a weekly schedule practical.
